This is a youth program geared towards Art Students in our Junior and Senior High Schools.. Metal and Plastic bins are donated to the Association by major companies, and these bins are painted by the artist and then placed throughout our communities, e.g. beaches, parks, schools, etc.
Bahamas National Pride Association partners with communities to organize a Clean-Up Campaign and Beautification projects. Residents and community businesses choose a day to eradicate all trash refuse, Derelict Vehicles, Dilapidated Buildings and any other Public Health nuisances from their community.
All Government schools, Primary, Junior and Senior high are inspected, judged and scoured out of 170 points in their categories. A grand ceremony is then held at the winning school or at the Government House to celebrate the 1st, 2nd & 3rd winners of their category.
The objective is to create awareness in students and faculty on the importance of maintaining their school in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.
Objectives: Sensitize local residents to the benefits of having a clean environment while at the same time planting fruits and vegetables in an organized manner on open lots that were for some time public health nuisances.
Methodology: Hold neighborhood meetings with residents to discuss the proposed project and solicit their input and support. Open lots were identified for the project with the intention of having them cleared and prepared hoping to make this the norm for most of the insanitary green spaces in these communities. ‘Watch dog committees’ will be selected to oversee and ensure the success of the program.
Goal: Plant an orchard in every community to physically change these environments and to sustain its residents. We envision Hog and Scarlet plum, Pumpkin, Sugar Apple, Pepper, Pomegranate, Cabbage, Broccoli and many other orchards in neighborhoods.
Bahamas National Pride Association is cognizant of how important it is to know and understand one’s history, we believe you cannot love, celebrate or have pride in what you don’t know or understand. Therefore we have embarked on a mission to work with the Historic Villages in New Providence and to ensure that they are authenticated and marketed as tourist destinations.
Litter free events are planned to create a more attractive environment and encourage anti-littering attitudes. The objective is to promote litter prevention instead of litter Clean-Ups.
- Waste receptacles are placed strategically at events.
- Litter Banners and signs are displayed.
- People are encouraged by frequent announcements on a P.A system to dispose of trash in the receptacles provided.
National Pride Day is celebrated on the Friday before the 10th of July, Independence Day. Celebrations vary each year; however Bahamians are encouraged to celebrate in Rawson Square, Bay Street.
